I was born and raised inner city of Detroit, Mi. My
name is pronounced-Cle-nay. I enjoy many aspects of
modeling such as dressing up, make-up, and styling.
I have personalized many of the photos session with
clothing designs, hair styles, and concepts that keep
you wanting more. Overall, I have been very blessed
with opportunities while pursuing this career path.
Growing up many people told me that was pretty enough
to become a model, but I was too short. After being
in several magazines and completing many different
types of models job I have realize like many other
people height does not define beauty. Despite the
stereotypes breaking into the modeling industry requires
dedication, persistence, patience, knowledge and most
of all prayer.
About
My Modeling Career
I first got involved with model at the age of 15.
I attended one of those big nation-wide model searches
and fell in love with modeling. I was chosen, but
I was unable to get involved, my mother did not want
me to start at that age plus they were asking for
a lot of money to get started. Therefore, I waited
until I graduated from high school. During high school
I danced with the school dance team, participated
in the business co-op, played volleyball for 3 years
and became captain of the team in my senior year.
But, I must also admit, I did not grow up with high
self-esteem. I was somewhat of a tomboy and very outgoing,
but I did not like my physical appearance because
I was ultra slim. In 1997, I graduated with honors
from Mackenzie High School and attended college that
year.
At the age of 19, I had my 1st photo shoot and it
went very well. The photos were high quality and professional.
Unfortunately the photographer I was working with
applied too much pressure and wanted me to do nudes,
which was uncomfortable for me. At that time I was
very naive and uneducated about the business. So,
I took a break and regrouped. By the age of 21 I was
back at it. I started doing fashion shows for Simply
Causal and working with MOCI, who is a hot clothing
designer in Detroit. During this time I decided that
I really enjoyed modeling. But, it was not my main
goal in life therefore I continued attending college.
During 2003 my first website was created, ThaSexyDime.com.
I am grateful for the learning experiences and hard
work that we did on that site. But, I wanted to redirect
the attention of my modeling career to further my
career opportunities. So, I made a hard decision and
I shut down the site. I did not want to be known as
ThaSexyDime but my given name, Cleney'.
Educational
and Career Goals Outside of Modeling
Currently - I am a new college graduate with a degree
in Family Studies and my minors are Social Work and
Psychology. Western Michigan University is where I
earned my degree. My career was started at a very
young age; I am in profession of sexual health and
counseling. I started as a peer educator, then advanced
into a HIV counselor/tester, and many more related
job experiences/titles. While attending college full
time for the last two years, I also worked full-time
to support myself during school plus ventured into
modeling. At the current time my title is Prevention
Specialist, which involves community based program
devolvement and many other aspects. I really enjoy
working in the community and empowering people. My
long-term goal is to become a family therapist and
a grant writer for youth programs. My heart is totally
devoted to helping teens and adults develop positive/healthy
life skills. Words that I Live by: The sky is the
limit and prayer+ hard work + education= can take

How did you get started in modeling ?
My 1st modeling experience happen when I was in the
10th grade. During the summer break right before school
started I was asked to attend a modeling convention.
My friend and I went and we had so much fun. After
attending this I fell in love with it, but decided
to pursuit when I was more mature and developed.
What would you say about the downside of modeling
?
Modeling can be difficult at times due to the constant
critiquing and comparisons to others. You must find
a way to keep your self-esteem healthy and confidence
is a must. In addition, must be aware of scams because
some people will try the hardest to take scam and
take advantage of you.
What would you say is the upside of modeling ?
Traveling, seeing yourself in magazines, and meeting
new people from all of the world. Plus since I am
only 5’3, I give a lot of other petite models encouragement.
How often do you workout ?
Currently, 3 times a week which includes bike riding,
balance ball, swimming, and running. I had to step
my game up since I graduated.
What do I do to unwind after a hard day of work
?
Turn my cell phone off and listen to some good music.
If I could have one wish, what would it be ?
I would wish for more wishes.
